At Fort Independence, we take great pride in honoring our nation’s flag. That’s why we host a USA Flag Retirement Ceremony twice a year—on Flag Day and Veterans Day.
We would love for you to bring your worn or tattered American flags to the Fort. We will treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. This special ceremony, organized by the CIA and the Scottish-American Military Society, follows the U.S. Flag Code. It’s not just a ceremony; it’s a heartfelt experience that many students and veterans cherish. We look forward to sharing this meaningful moment with you!

Flag Day 2025
There was a little drizzle falling on the event on June 14, 2025, but it was a successful day, with all flags burned successfully.
